The decision to close the library is a difficult and often inconvenient one. There are several factors that are considered before the decision to close, with the safety of staff and patrons being paramount. Additionally, we have to weigh the practicality of opening and staffing the building when it may get little to no use during a storm.
The following criteria are considered by the director when making the decision to close:
National, state, and local weather bureau forecasts are reviewed
State and local school, town, and public library closures are considered
The assessment of the town road agent is considered
